Job Description:
School Secretary/Administrative Assistant

Under the direction of the Director of Academics, this person performs a variety of clerical and support work involving both specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures; greets and interacts with the public, works cooperatively with staff, students, and families, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Meet and interact with public and employees in routine situations which require tact, discretion and courtesy, including answering phones and providing communications via email and letters.
Provide a variety of clerical duties involving all but the most complex matters.
Share information and interpretations of policies or procedures related to departmental or school activities.
Establish, maintain and monitor accurate, neat and efficient electronic and manual filing systems.
Sort and classify incoming mail for efficient disbursement to appropriate recipients.
Prepare letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, handbooks, questionnaires, requisitions and other materials from marginal notes, rough drafts, verbal instructions or dictating equipment.
Compile information from various sources on a variety of standardized forms.
Assist in the orientation and training of the employees or volunteers.
Ability to handle confidential information with complete security.
Support the school lunch program clerical and data requirements, including receiving and inputting lunch applications into school lunch software.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree or some college preferred. Experience working with the public or in a school environment, as well as sufficient physical fitness and health necessary to complete the essential duties of the job.  Employee will demonstrate the capacity and willingness to carry out duties and responsibilities as set forth in job description.   Employee will possess basic computer and typing skills.
Behavioral competencies for the position include the ability to work on a team, excellent customer service skills, conflict resolution skills, superior oral communication skills, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude when working with staff, faculty, parents and visitors.
