POSITION OVERVIEW:  The Charter High School for Architecture + Design (CHAD) is a learning community committed to an innovative program integrating the design process with the mastery of a strong liberal arts education. CHAD is a thoughtful academic environment that engenders love of learning, intellectual curiosity, and new ways of seeing, and prepares students for higher education. CHAD’s teachers are responsible for ensuring that every CHAD student acquires the academic and design skills to succeed in competitive design colleges and universities across the country.
Founded in 2000, CHAD is a college preparatory school located in Center City Philadelphia just 2 blocks from the Liberty Bell. CHAD's design program provides students with foundation skills to support further education in the areas of architecture, industrial design, fashion design, and graphic design. CHAD’s core academic courses focus on developing strong literacy, science, and math competencies and incorporate elements of architecture and design into all subject areas.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Support special education students in achieving academic success and character growth
-Work on professional teams to develop a CHAD curriculum that is aligned with PA Standards and the CHAD Mission and Vision and is accessible to students in need of special education
-Create, implement, and support academically engaging lessons and assessments
-Assess individual student’s progress and learning needs; demonstrate a constant focus on helping students
achieve
-Facilitate the development of character and community in the classroom
-Help shape and develop a school-wide positive atmosphere that supports the needs of our students, teachers, and families
-Communicate students’ progress toward realizing academic goals with families on a regular basis
 
 QUALIFICATIONS:          
-Active PA Teacher Certification in Special Education
-At least 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
-Bachelor’s degree (required)
