Job Description:

The Classroom Teacher is an integral member of the school’s team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Academics and Head of Student Services.  The Classroom Teacher is responsible for leading the instruction of students in a particular specialty. The Classroom Teacher should be the leader of his/her classroom.  
Specific areas of responsibility include:
 Curricular and Instructional Practices
·         Understand the state approved standards for content area.
          Plan and prepare lessons of appropriate content, identifying PDE standards.
·         Read IEP’s within three weeks of course-start.
·         Implement IEP goals, accommodations and modifications into instructional delivery and lesson plans.
·         Establish lessons using differentiated instruction to engage all students.
·         Maintain dynamic instructional delivery using technology as often as possible/readily available.
·         Prepare assessments in coordination with Department Chairpersons to assess students’ acquisition of standards
  • Must maintain: Student Attendance, Power Teacher, and Communication with parents through log entries.
Safe Learning Environment
  • Monitors and reports daily and class attendance with strong detail
  • Communicate the student code of conduct in all classes
  • Able to maintain an orderly classroom, including handling minor discipline matters within the room
  • Monitors and reports student code of conduct violations as directed
  • Communicate safety instructions to students in all classes
  • Monitor hallways/classrooms in between classes
  • Maintains school property with personal attention
Community Involvement
  • Must attend all required staff meetings and school sponsored Professional Development, as contractually determined
  • Must attend all required Parent/Student meetings as directed, as contractually determined
  • Encouraged to attend out-of-school time events to foster a sense of community.

Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university required
  • PA Teaching Certification required Spanish K-12
  • Experience in public education preferred.
