POSITION:                         Assistant Principal
POSITION TERM:               12 Months
REPORTS TO:                     Principal
DATE:                                 July 2015

Position Summary
This position will report to the Principal and work collaboratively with the Principal, Executive Director of Instruction, the Leadership Coach as well as the other assistant principals and all principals.  All work will be directly connected with the Agora School Design, Pillars of School Success, mission, vision, values and goals and directly rooted in current best practices/research.

  • Serve as the operational leader for school wide regions.  (As the leader of the regions, all support personnel positions within the organizational structure in that region report to you.)
  • Conduct activities directly impacting instruction which include but are not limited to conducting classroom observations, engaging in coaching and feedback conversations, delivering professional development, collaborating in team planning and professional learning communities
  • Work with the school principal to facilitate hiring with interview team for all open positions and leadership team positions
  • Implement & monitor Employee Professional Growth Plans, provide coaching and support
  • Effectively communicate the vision, mission, values and goals of Agora from the broad school-wide level down to the student level where all can articulate their role in the process.
  • All stakeholders within the Agora community create SMART goals which align with the overarching vision and goals of the school.
  • Leadership focuses on clearly defining roles and responsibilities, effectively delegating, efficient solution-planning, independent action-taking and review by school teams
  • Works with the Agora departments of Instruction, Professional Development, Achievement, and school level leadership to ensure PD needs are being met for all academic staff K-12
  • In conjunction with Executive Director of Instruction, Director of Instruction and Executive Director of Professional Development, designs and implements professional development scope and sequence series and provides coaching support for all staff within the smaller school community, as it relates to the Strategic Plan.
  • Works collaboratively with the Department of Professional Development utilizing in-house as well as outside resources to meet the individual needs of Agora staff.
 
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office and virtual environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and printers.
Required Education and Experience:
  • A Master’s Degree in education related course of study
  • Pennsylvania Principal Certificate required
  • At least 5 plus years of teaching experience with proven distinction
  • At least 3 years of experience within a school academic leadership position
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience in leadership supporting new teachers, struggling teachers, and veteran teachers
