Job Description:
FACTS has an immediate opening for a Special Education Para-Educator. The Para-educator helps deliver the teaching and learning programs by performing duties, under the direct supervision of the assigned special education teacher, who holds ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.

• Prepare lesson outlines and plans in assigned subject areas, or for small groups and submit outlines to teacher for review. • Prepare lesson materials and other teaching aids. • Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teacher. • Engage student in activities to promote physical, mental, and social development. • Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress and participate in teacher-parent conferences regarding students’ progress or problems. • Communicate with parents and other team members (classroom teachers, ESOL teachers, Special Education teachers, etc.) and participate in meetings as required.

Non Instructional
• Supervise students during arrival and dismissal, halls, cafeteria, school yard, and gym, on field trips, and in other non-instructional settings as required. • Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students and prepare and present displays of students' work. • Grade homework and tests, and compute and record results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices. • Support special education teacher in photocopying and other clerical tasks in order to support teaching • Attend meetings as required. • Other duties as assigned.

Required: • Support the vision and mission of the school. • Associate Degree or qualifications to attain the Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators in Pennsylvania is required. Ability to establish and maintain a rapport with students. • Collaborative working style and commitment to maintaining positive communications with colleagues.

Preferred:  • Bachelor's Degree • Experience working with students with special needs is a plus. • Bilingual skills are a plus. • Preference given to people interested in pursuing teaching as a career.
