Job Description:

The Arts Academy Elementary Charter School will provide a rich and comprehensive educational program for students in grades K-5 by employing an intensive artistic immersion program. A rigorous and traditional academic program will be enhanced with rich and varied weekly experiences in Dance, Instrumental Music, Visual Art, Vocal Music, Theatre and Gymnastics. Each student will be provided with a broad introduction to the arts in order to enhance their future academic success.

Custodial and Kitchen Support
Job Summary
The Custodial and Kitchen Support position will spend the first part of the shift assisting the Kitchen Coordinator working in accordance with the Kitchen Coordinator, conducting all necessary daily operations of the AAECS Food Service Kitchen, while maintaining the health and food safety standards set forth in the Arts Academy Kitchen Operations Manual. The second part of the shift will be dedicated to working with the Director of Operations and Facilities Coordinator to maintain a high level of building cleanliness and infection control by following weekly scheduled custodial tasks including classroom, restroom, common area, office, and site cleaning.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Pre-plated meal prep and service
  • Delivery Processing, Escort food service and milk delivery staff, monitor safety at delivery times
  • Use of personal protective equipment, gloves, non-skid shoes, hair nets, etc.
  • Kitchen and cafeteria organization and cleaning
  • Operate POS system as needed
  • Logging of all necessary food safety information
  • Assist Facilities Coordinator with cafeteria cleaning
  • Other duties as assigned by Kitchen Coordinator and/or Director of Operations
  • Coordinate daily with Facilities Coordinator and Director of Operations
  • Follow weekly cleaning schedule
  • Maintain a school-wide trash removal and recycling program
  • Check and restock all building dispensers daily
  • Maintain safe school grounds in inclement weather conditions
  • Evening and weekend event preparation and clean up
  • Summer deep cleaning and restorative projects
  • Emergency clean up duties as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations, School Principal, and/or Chief Executive Officer

Reports to:  Director of Operations

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience in custodial services preferably in an academic setting
  • 2-3 years previous experience in a school cafeteria setting preferred
  • School Nutrition Association or ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing, with the administrative staff, professional and support staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Knowledge of proper methods of preparing, handling, and storing of food in quantity and quality preferred
  • The candidate will frequently be asked required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The candidate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11:00AM-7:00PM
Salary Range: $35k per year
This is a 12 month position.

Acts 24, 31, 68, 114 and 151 clearances and Physical and TB test on PA State Standard form will be required to be completed the prior to the first day of employment.
