SECURITY SUPERVISOR
WEST OAK LANE CHARTER SCHOOL


JOB SUMMARY: This is a Full Time 12-month position requiring the individual to primarily be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the facility and all members of the school community, as well as promote a positive and orderly school environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and assign security staff to monitor the cafeteria, bus areas, hallways, restrooms, and other assigned areas of the school building during class hours to deter and control undesirable actions.
  • Supervise and assign security staff to patrol parking lots and school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles and to identify any suspicious activities.
  • Assist administrators, police, emergency personnel, and staff in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits.
  • Notify the building administration, police, and or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.
  • Review reports, documentation, and evidence compiled by school security officers, before submission to administrative staff.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings with security officers assigned to the school to reinforce training and discuss security-related issues.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and ongoing staff training
  • Assume responsibility, under the direction of the administrative staff for logistical issues and placement of security staff throughout the building.
  • Plan and schedule daily work assignments of security staff assigned to the school, utilizing the most efficient and effective use of personnel.
  • Provide leadership and act as a mentor to the security staff assigned to the school.
  • Assist the custodial staff with securing the facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety (include, but not limited to, locking and unlocking doors, securing gates, checking windows, turning lights on/off, etc.)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, administrators and other members of the school community
  • Maintain Courteous/appropriate relationships with students, staff, parents and other visitors or associates with the school.
  • Establishes policies and procedures to address school safety issues.
  • Preforms other related duties as assigned by the CEO or appropriate administrator.
Education;
  • A High School Diploma or its Equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Three (3) years of experience as a security officer, preferably within a school setting.
Special Skills:
  • Excellent Integrity, sound judgment and good moral Character.
  • Appropriate interpersonal skills to relate well with student, staff, administration, parent and the school community.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
Additional Requirements:
  • Provide evidence that all required clearances have been conducted and have satisfactory outcomes indicating individual has not been charged, or convicted of a criminal act of any nature.
  • Provide evidence that the individual’s health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities
