Job Description:
Reach Cyber Charter School (Reach Cyber), a Pennsylvania Connections Academy school, is a tuition-free, public cyber school serving students in grades K-12 statewide. Reach Cyber offers a variety of academic pacing options for students including a traditional school year option, a year-long school year option and an accelerated option. Reach Cyber is authorized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school utilizes the Connections Education program. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED.
Position Summary and Responsibilities:
The Family Mentor is responsible for developing a strong relationship with families, by mentoring students who are identified and deemed to be at-risk at Reach Cyber Charter School. The Family Mentor will work directly under the Director of Family Services.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload students throughout the entire school year. (This caseload will fluctuate based on an at-risk algorithm, and will consist of different students at different times of the year).
  • Report to and meet monthly with the Director of Family Services. This meeting can be held either virtually or in-office.
  • Visit each student on the caseload a minimum of three times per semester, resulting in six times per year. This number will also change based on when a student is enrolled or placed on the caseload.
  • Evaluate and analyze the at-risk student data that will be generated on a weekly basis. This will allow the mentor to determine what areas to target when assisting students on their caseload.
  • Develop positive relationships with both students and families on their caseload.
  • Maintain a cell phone, and utilize it to contact students and families that are on the caseload on a regular and as-needed basis.
  • All other duties assigned by the Director of Family Services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Certified teacher, social worker or counselor field preferred.
  • 3 years experience in a cyber education setting preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
  • Ability to drive to various areas of the state as assigned by the Director of Family Services.
