Job Description:
  1. B.S or B.A in elementary education or secondary education, and/or related area. Administrative Certificate, preferred
  2. Hold a valid and current Pennsylvania Instructional II Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate.
  3. Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 114, and 151).
  4. In-depth and specific knowledge in content, curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the elementary and secondary levels.
  5. Recent experience in planning and facilitating school-wide and/or district-wide professional development, preferred.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  7. A valid and current operator's license for a motor vehicle and have access to an operable vehicle for traveling within and outside the district.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may determine.
The Arts Facilitator will support elementary, secondary and arts (art, music, theater, dance, physical education) teachers in the integration of the arts across content areas.  The Facilitator will work directly with teachers, providing classroom demonstration lessons, co-teaching, conferencing with teachers to provide feedback, and reflecting on next steps in instruction. The Facilitator will focus on enhancing teachers’ abilities to integrate the arts into daily instruction in alignment with the district goals, arts at the core resolutions, and the ASD Pathways to Success. The Facilitator will provide leadership in proposed curriculum initiatives and all arts workshops, professional development and performance events. 
  1. Provides knowledge and understanding of the PDE Standards Aligned System (SAS), QTEL, Higher Order Thinking, and Formative Assessment.
  2. Imparts knowledge and understanding of Resiliency and Classroom Management.
  3. Provides leadership for ongoing and proposed curriculum projects for Kindergarten through Grade 12.
  4. Recommends ways in which the curriculum can be adjusted and integrated in support of district goals and Pathways to Success.   
  5. Demonstrates knowledge and use of rich array of instructional approaches, resources and technologies in instruction.
  6. Engages in research related to curriculum development and curriculum evaluation.
  7. Manages grants as assigned and prepares specific proposals concurrent with district priorities.
  8. Assists in the planning and implementation of staff, community, and parent meetings at district and building levels.
  9. Provides leadership for the development and implementation of curriculum, including the preparation of curriculum guides and other instructional materials.
  10. Provides leadership in the planning of workshops, performances and in-service programs at the district and building level.
  11. Provides leadership in the organization and management of district and community performances and events for Allentown School District students.    
  12. Maintains a collaborative working relationship with state and local education agencies.
  13. Participates on higher education, business, and community education advisory committees.
  14. Coordinates with community arts organizations for partnerships and services for students.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
