Job Description:
FACTS is currently seeking a certified ELD teacher 7th and 8th grade for the 2021-22 School Year.  

FACTS teachers challenge, inspire, and actively engage students in their own learning process by teaching both for content and for critical thinking and character development. Teachers work cooperatively as part of a grade team as well as with content area teachers, Special Education and other specialist teachers. 

The ELD teacher teaches in both inclusion and pull-out settings in order to accelerate students’ acquisition of English and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies in order to meet classroom expectations; serves as a liaison between the EL student and all their classroom teachers and their families and the school; assists in other school programs as assigned; and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability and level of achievement. 

The ELD teacher is expected to be well-versed in culturally responsive teaching as well as language development. ELD teachers are assigned a caseload based on the shifting needs of FACTS students and therefore should expect to teach different grade levels during their career at FACTS .
Job Description
  • Develops and implements instructional programs to meet the individual needs of ELL students that is in a manner consistent with FACTS’ mission statement
  • Provides instruction to ELL students individually or in small groups, across a variety of settings (push-in, pull-out and/or 1:1), on a daily basis
  • Maintains a school atmosphere in which human and cultural values are shared to the fullest possible extent, and in which attainment of self-reliance, responsible behavior and a positive self-image are of prime importance
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to plan and coordinate instruction
  • Develops a cooperative partnership with students and parents based on mutual respect
  • Establishes and maintains high standards for pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere
  • Interprets the educational program to parents and other community members through personal conferences, meetings, and various media using the primary language when appropriate
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to motivate students and cater to the needs of all ability levels within the class
  • Meets requirements for the assessment and documentation of student development
  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day, as required
  • Attends staff meetings, in-service meetings, team meetings, grade level meetings, and department meetings, as required
  • Participates in in-service education activities provided by the school as well as self-selected professional growth activities
  • Completes all reports as required, including student evaluation, inventories, orders, and program evaluation
  • Performs other duties of an adjunct nature, which are necessary to maintain smooth operation of the school
  • Maintains good public relations through reasonable participation in such activities as family nights, holiday programs, and other school events that may take place outside of work hours

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding and support of FACTS’ mission is required.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification or eligibility is required.
  • Additional ELD certification is required.
  • MA in TESOL is preferred.
  • Sincere concern, respect, and affection for English Learner students and parents is required.
  • Genuine desire to work cooperatively with colleagues & the capacity to work effectively with diverse populations is required. 
  • Experience in differentiated instruction and collaborative teaching is preferred.
  • Successful relevant teaching experience in an urban school setting is preferred.
  • Fluency in another language in addition to English is a plus.

We offer salary based on years of full time teaching experience, a generous benefits package, and a safe, pleasant, collegial work environment. The successful candidate will receive a $4,000 signing bonus.
