Bilingual School Social Worker
Administrative Team, including the Supervisor of Special Education and Behaviorist
Job Summary: The Bilingual School Social Worker will support bilingual students and their families in their learning by rendering essential services that recognize and resolve the environmental and/or socio-emotional problems that obstruct the educational process. 
The social worker will provide counseling (individual and group) to students from diverse backgrounds. He/she will provide consultation services to school staff about individual student needs and work collaboratively as an interdisciplinary team member to devise plans for students through the provision of support services. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide individual counseling services to students in grades K through 8 through the use of evidence-based practices. 
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of social, emotional, and/or behaviorally-driven Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Provide small group counseling services to students in grades K through 8 on a variety of topics, inclusive of social skills, coping, self-regulation, organization, and grief/loss.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and draft Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), with ongoing monitoring and revision, as necessary.
  • Develop and implement professional development training for school personnel and parents, as requested.
  • In conjunction with the school attendance officer, assist in addressing truancy-related issues through home contacts and visits, the creation of student-specific plans, and the monitoring of attendance-related goals.
  • Participate in IEP, evaluation and re-evaluation meetings and/or parent meetings.
  • Participate in professional development activities aimed at best practices for the provision of comprehensive school social work services.
  • Serve as a liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling facilities, and other community resources, such as social services, court services, and family service agencies. 
  • Provide families with information to external support services or agencies in order to assist students in coping with challenges. 
  • Perform duties and assume other responsibilities, as requested by the Administrative Team. 

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), in good standing, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
