Position Title: Bilingual Parent Liaison
Terms of Employment: 10 Months

Job Summary:
The Bilingual Parent Liaison functions in the capacity of providing translation support to school staff to support communication with families whose primary language is Spanish. In addition, the Liaison will translate letters, documents, notifications posted on the website and mailings that are distributed to the community.

Essential Functions:
When school staff complete the Bilingual Parent Liaison Request Form, the Liaison performs the following functions:
- Translation and communication between school and families for intakes/registrations, supporting families with all paperwork and documentation needed for enrollment
- When the Home Language Survey indicates that Spanish is the primary language, conduct the family interview, complete the family interview form and notify the ESL Director and Teachers upon completion of the Family Interview Form
- Contact Spanish Speaking Families to support communication between families and staff to provide necessary updates and address questions and concerns
- Contact Spanish Speaking Families to support the special education team and process so parents understand and respond to IEP Invitations and Permissions to Evaluate
- Participate in IEP Team Meetings to translate verbal communication between staff and the family, and translate IEP documents for the families during the IEP meeting
- Translate notifications, letters, postings to the website and mailings that go out to the community
- Support communication with parents during PTA Meetings and school functions
- Support the ESL Team in developing parent workshops to improve parental involvement
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Clearance
Demonstrated Knowledge of:
- Fluent in Spanish, for written and verbal communication
- Ability to translate written documents
Demonstrated Ability to:
- Communicate and manage time effectively
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with families and school staff
