Job Position: Physical Education and Health Teacher (K-8)
Job Summary: The Physical Education and Health Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops an understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise. The teacher will motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment, discover and develop talents in physical achievement, and enhance strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports through each student's ability.

The teacher must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, enter data into a computer, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone, and speak in audible tones so others may understand clearly in regular classrooms, outdoors, and on the phone. The teacher must also have the physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead.

The teacher will motivate each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustment, discover and develop talents in physical achievement, and enhance strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports through each student's ability.
Essential Duties:
- Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms, dance, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing the curriculum designated by Vision Academy Charter School and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state law and the administrative regulations and procedures of Vision Academy Charter School.
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the school's instructional philosophy and aligned with course standards; provide individualized and small group instruction.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to ensure an orderly and productive environment in the physical education areas.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, prepare report cards, and maintain appropriate records, including attendance reports, checklists, and other necessary documentation.
- Maintain control of storage and use of school property.
- Evaluate each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution to team sports.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors regarding student progress.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Administer testing by school testing practices.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate field day activities, including developing activities and setup.
