Job Description:
Positive and nurturing 1:1 aide for a 1st-grade student with Down Syndrome. The individual would attend to the academic and emotional needs of the student. Support the student and work with the student to do tasks independently. Support is required in a general education setting for the duration of the school day. Works with the Learning Support teacher and classroom teacher to make plans for instruction as well as curriculum modifications and accommodations. Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and /or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher. Escorts student during times of transition to ensure student safety. Attends periodic "check-in" meetings with student's parents and school staff for the purpose of providing input regarding student's progress in the classroom.
