Assistant Principal

Reports to: Campus Principal & Chief Executive Officer
Nature and Scope of the Job

Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional programs and campus-level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services. 

Job Functions:
  • Direct and coordinate activities of teachers and support staff.
  • Evaluate curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness, efficiency, and utilization, and to ensure that school activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Set educational standards and goals and help establish policies and procedures to carry them out.
  • Assist with enforcing discipline and attendance rules.
  • Observe teaching methods and examine learning materials to evaluate and standardize curricula and teaching techniques, and to determine areas where improvement is needed.
  • Establish, coordinate, and oversee programs across school LEA, such as programs to evaluate student academic achievement.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers.
  • Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems.
  • Participate in special education-related activities such as attending meetings and supporting special educators and related staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Attends and supervises field trips
  • Attends and participates in parent and staff meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, and mental ability
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Love and see the high potential of all children.

Education, License, Certification, or Formal Training
  • Possess all certificates required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Continues to pursue graduate-level classes for professional growth
  • Has necessary Criminal Background Check Records and Child Abuse Clearances.
Physical Demands:
  • Be able to stand, walk, and sit for long periods without fatigue or discomfort.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 100 feet.
  • Be able to carry up to 15 pounds for a distance of 1,000 feet.
Evaluation:

The CEO/Principal or designee evaluates the performance of the elementary teacher in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Directors' policies on the evaluation of school staff.
