Middle School Science Teachers
Position Summary:

Vision Academy Charter School is seeking passionate and dynamic middle school science teachers to make a significant impact on their students' lives. Our teachers are committed to creating a warm and welcoming school culture focused on student achievement, with high expectations and support for every student.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Implementing Vision Academy's curriculum and maintaining consistency in classroom routines and procedures.
  • Developing rigorous, aligned instruction, including lesson plans, homework assignments, and assessments.
  • Collaborating with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use it to inform instruction.
  • Participating in PLCs and Departments to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards.
  • Establishing relationships with students' families, including phone calls, conferences, and visits.
  • Participating in ongoing professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students through tutoring sessions and organize and lead an afterschool club or enrichment activity to promote students' academic and social-emotional growth.

Education and Experience:
The successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Must have or be working towards teacher certification.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  • Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting.
  • Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains.
  • Documented experience and knowledge using technology to improve education.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with Core Knowledge Sequence preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The successful candidates must be able to perform the following physical requirements:
  • Standing, walking, and sitting for long periods.
  • Speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things near and far away, stooping, kneeling.
  • Delicate finger and hand manipulation using a computer, chalkboard, dry-erase board, Smartboard, or projector.
