As an accelerated alternative high school program, One Bright Ray’s population consists of non-traditional students that may need additional support. The College & Career Counselor supports students and families' post-secondary exposure, educational understanding, and needs. The College & Career Counselor shall have experience with hosting post-secondary exposure events and be familiar with completing graduation requirements towards obtaining a high school diploma. The College & Career Counselor will be part of the College & Career Counseling Department and work collaboratively with site administration and the Director of College & Career Counseling.
We're hiring for the upcoming 2025-2026 Academic School Year!
Qualifications: Bachelors Required, Masters Preferred, PA School Counselor Certification, Related Experience Required.
Years of Experience: 1-5 yrs
Primary Responsibilities:
Position: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:45am to 3:15pm)

Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting school leadership in carrying out the mission and vision of One Bright Ray Community High School.
- Understand and practice in accordance with, federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families; such as, child protection/child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy
- Coordinate campus wide post-secondary events: College/Career Day, SAT School Day, FAFSA/Financial Aid Night, etc.
- Coordinate required testing for post-secondary enrollment: SAT, ACT, ASVAB, etc.
- Manage and maintain local college/university and job fairs; coordinate & supervise college campus trips
- Assist students to complete college/trade program enrollment requirements
- Serve as the direct liaison for post-secondary representatives
- Invite post-secondary representatives to speak with students and families
- Facilitate post-secondary education meetings/workshops with students and families
- Complete and manage post-secondary data using various platforms including PowerSchool, Naviance, and the Google Suite.
- Complete and manage resources for post-secondary opportunities: College/University, trade programs, internship opportunities, job listings, etc.
- Develop and maintain local internship/apprentice opportunities.
- Manage supporting documentation and evidence for student progress towards PA Keystone Graduation Requirements.
- Complete and maintain student files/documentation, including completion of the FAFSA, 3 College Applications, and 3 Job Applications, as per School District Requirements.
- Communicate student concerns regularly with site administration and the Director of College & Career Counseling.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Director of College & Career Counseling.
