General Responsibilities:
The Guidance Counselor is responsible for counseling students in the areas of academic, career, and personal-social development, and assist teachers in developing sensitivity to the particular needs of individual students. Additionally, counselors may use test data and psychological assessment findings to assist with academic progress in special or gifted education, aptitude, and behavioral management to assist students for career and transition objectives. Guidance counselors are responsible for the development of a comprehensive school counseling program that includes individualized education, career planning, and all other outside school activities necessary to ensure a successful social and academic transition toward future student goals.

Education/Training:
- Master’s degree in social work or a related field.
- Valid PA School Counselor certification.
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
- Thorough knowledge of school social work services and ability to provide case management for students.
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office software.
- A minimum of three (3) years' related experience normally required.
