Job Description:
As an accelerated alternative high school program, One Bright Ray’s population consist of non-traditional students that may need additional support. The Emotional Support Team (EST) assist students in maintaining their needs, to assure the completion of their high school education. The goal of the Emotional Support Team is to enhance student’s coping skills, ability to manage crisis, and self-advocate, as well as providing staff/faculty support to maintain cultural competency.
The School Counselor supports students and families emotional needs. The School Counselor shall have an understanding of the psychosocial development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences as they interact with the educational process. The School Counselor will be part of the Emotional Support Team (EST), and work collaboratively with site administration and the Director of Emotional Support.

Qualifications:
Primary responsibilities:
Salary: $43,000 - $63,000 Yearly
Schedule: Monday - Friday (7:45am to 3:15pm)

Qualifications:
- Masters in Education: School Counseling/Counseling Education, from an ASCA accredited program
- Certified in Pennsylvania
Primary responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting school leadership in carrying out the mission and vision of One Bright Ray Community High School.
- Understand and practice in accordance with, federal, state, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families; such as, child protection/child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy
- Uphold Restorative Practice motto
- Ability to work with specialized groups, such as student parents, unaccompanied youth, adjudicated youth, youth with special education requirements, etc.
- Complete needs assessment and connect students/families to desired service
- Advocate for student educational needs
- Assist and provide support with student conflict resolution meetings, parent meetings, and student behavioral meetings
- Provides individual and group counseling to students relative to academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Familiar with mental health diagnosis, techniques, and interventions
- Maintain special education student caseload by providing required counseling services
- Provide crisis intervention support, counseling and education for topics such as bereavement/grief, bullying, positive relationships, societal concerns, etc.
- Provide culturally competency training to staff/faculty
- Complete and manage EST data
- Complete and maintain student files/ documentation
- Communicate student concerns regularly with site administration and the Director of Emotional Support
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Director of Emotional Support
