Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction, implement individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborate with general education and arts teachers to ensure all students with exceptionalities are supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
Primary Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to students in accordance with their IEP goals using evidence-based practices.
• Write and manage IEPs in compliance with Pennsylvania and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to implement accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and service delivery.
• Support students in both push-in and pull-out settings, depending on need.
• Assist in implementing positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
• Contribute to the development of transition plans and ensure compliance with post-secondary goals.
• Maintain confidentiality and support the dignity and rights of all students.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to special education compliance, instructional strategies, and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certification (PK–12 or 7–12); dual certification in a content area is a plus.
• Working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and PA Chapter 14 regulations.
• Experience writing and managing IEPs and working with students across a range of disabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to compliance deadlines.
• Collaborative spirit with a commitment to inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience in an arts-based or charter school setting.
• Familiarity with online IEP systems (e.g., PowerSchool Special Programs, IEPWriter, etc.).
• Ability to support social-emotional learning and restorative practices.
• Enthusiasm for working in a creative and innovative educational environment.
