Chemistry Teacher 
Full-Time, 10-Month Position  
Due to continued growth in student enrollment and strong interest in our science programs, Franklin Towne Charter High School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Chemistry Teacher for a full-time, 10-month position beginning in late August and ending in early June. 
Building on foundational concepts introduced in physical science, our Chemistry program engages students in the study of chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, acids and bases, gas laws, and thermodynamics. This course serves as a critical stepping stone for advanced coursework, including AP Chemistry and AP Biology, and supports students pursuing future studies and careers in science-related fields.

Position Overview  
The Chemistry Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging instruction that promotes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application of chemical concepts. This educator will create a dynamic classroom environment that emphasizes both conceptual understanding and hands-on laboratory experiences, while supporting students with diverse learning needs and preparing them for success in advanced science coursework. 
Key Responsibilities 

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned lessons in Chemistry, incorporating topics such as chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, acids and bases, gas laws, and thermodynamics  

• Design and facilitate safe, engaging laboratory experiments that reinforce course concepts and promote inquiry-based learning  

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and ensure equitable access to rigorous content  

• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative measures, using data to inform instruction  

• Prepare students for advanced science courses, including AP Chemistry and AP Biology  

• Maintain a structured, positive classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement  

• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and support interdisciplinary learning  

• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and academic expectations  

• Uphold all school policies, including those related to safety in the laboratory setting

Education Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 

 
Certification: 

• Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certification Chemistry 7-12
