Salary: Per the CBA, LTS positions are placed on Step 1 of the Bachelor's Column of the salary schedule 
Schedule: 7hr 20 min work day (inclusive of 30 minute, duty-free lunch) ; 190 days/year, 5 days/week

Overview:
The LTS Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs. This role develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure students access the general curriculum and make meaningful progress. The teacher collaborates with general education staff, families, and specialists to create inclusive, supportive learning environments. They use data-driven practices to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Strong advocacy, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to support student success and independence.
This position could vary between elementary and secondary work and could include learning, emotional, and/or autistic support. The final work location for a given time period is based on student need and could vary from year to year.

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs with fidelity and in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations; meets all timelines and deadlines.
• Manage time effectively to ensure completion of documentation, progress monitoring, and reporting requirements with accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide direct instruction using evidence-based strategies aligned to IEP goals and individual student needs.
• Adapt curriculum, materials, and assessments to ensure access to the general education curriculum and promote student independence.
• Actively participate in the MTSS process, using data to inform decisions, monitor progress, and adjust supports and services.
• Collaborate and communicate at a high level of competence with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure cohesive student support.
• Implement behavior plans and support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development within structured, inclusive environments.
• Maintain accurate records, coordinates services, and ensures consistent, compliant delivery of all special education supports and related services. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education (or related field); Master's degree is a plus
• Valid Pennsylvania certification in Special Education Pk-12
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, and adaptive classroom environment
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to use adaptive technologies and assistive devices.
• Knowledge of visual schedules, sensory supports, and social skills training.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
