Job Description:
POSITION:   Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator

Under the direction of the principal, MTSS Coordinator assists in all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of a consistent Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).  The MTSS Coordinator will provide information and professional development to the school site team. The MTSS Coordinator will help the school achieve increased academic success by tracking a comprehensive three-tiered MTSS program of academic interventions for students who need additional supports. The MTSS Coordinator will work closely with the Instructional Leadership Team and Instructional Coaches to improve the quality of Tier 2 and Tier 3 strategies and programs designed to promote academic growth in all identified students; provide professional development to administrators, teachers and staff members on MTSS strategies; evaluate and measure the effectiveness of specific MTSS strategies and interventions in order to refine Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels of support; document and communicate student progress to all relevant stakeholders; and work effectively with administrators, colleagues, and all members of the school communities.
  • Identify clear processes for universal screening, which will be used to identify students who need additional support
  • Establish a progress monitoring process and data collection procedures, including cut points
  • Ensure the development, identification, and establishment of interventions at Tier II and III at each school site
  • Plan and implement teacher in-service and professional development at each school site
  • Assist teachers in analyzing student needs and linking student needs to appropriate interventions 
  • Identify expectations for the use of MTSS for academic concerns
  • Develop and lead progress monitoring and universal screening for students.
  • Collaborate with school stakeholders in developing, refining and integrating appropriate MTSS strategies and interventions for academics.
  • Work indirectly with teachers through the school’s Student Support Teams to train, guide, and assist with reviewing and integrating the MTSS process.
  • Work directly with school administrator and Instructional Leadership Teams to implement the MTSS process with fidelity to the model.
  • Attend district-level, state and regional MTSS meetings, conferences and workshops; attend school-level MTSS meetings.
  • Work with the instructional coaches to develop strong instructional support models and materials.
  • Work closely with members of the Central Education team to develop and monitor the MTSS timeline and implementation plan.
  • Assist Student Support Teams with reviewing and monitoring data, referrals and process.
  • Coordinate and lead MTSS related professional development.
  • Compile, maintain, and review student academic data to inform practice.
  • Perform other related work as required.
  • Broad understanding of the MTSS structure as it relates to school reform
  • Deep understanding of the MTSS literature
  • Knowledge of the implementation and application of MTSS model at the school site level
  • Ability to use data for decision-making regarding student needs
  • Ability to design broad scale MTSS framework for adaption at site levels
  • Ability to conduct professional development in all aspects related to MTSS, including philosophy, problem-solving methodology, system change, universal screening, progress monitoring, decision making, intervention methods at all tiers for academic needs.
  • Ability to disaggregate, interpret, and analyze assessment data.
  • Ability to coordinate school-wide programs and initiatives in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Instructional Leadership Team and to promote collaborative practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present comprehensive and effective reports, both oral and written, as appropriate to varied audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and meet timelines.
  • Experience in using technology to support teaching and learning, staff training, student assessment, and program accountability.
  • Commitment to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth experiences.
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree program from an accredited college or university.
  • Have at least five (5) years of excellent teaching experience
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Instructional coaching or team leader experience preferred
