Chester Charter Scholars Academy (formerly named The Chester Charter School for the Arts) is a non-profit, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12. It is a single stand-alone school with no affiliation with any other schools or charter management organizations. CCSA currently serves approximately 676 students.

Position Description
The Special Education Teaching Assistant is specifically responsible for supporting students who receive special education services in appropriate academic areas.
 
Ideal Candidates will have:
  • Experience working successfully in an urban setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and thirst for continuously improving instruction through professional development and a data-focused mindset.
  • Exceptional management skills and a willingness to use humor to deescalate potential problems.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a high-performing team, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Director of Special Education.
  • Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in learning activities and programs.
  • Providing for small group instruction and support as assigned.
  • Monitoring student academic growth and progress.
  • Actively supervising students as assigned.
  • Undertaking other duties as the classroom teacher and/or Director assigns.
  • Modeling the importance of character traits that we hope to nurture in our students including compassion, tenacity, and accountability.
Qualifications:
  • PA Certification, Act 34, Act 151, Act 168 and FBI clearances
  • Experience in an urban setting, strongly preferred
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
Compensation: Annual salary (paid over 12 months) includes full health, dental, retirement and life insurance benefits.
