Gemma Services, a Behavioral Health nonprofit agency, located in Plymouth Meeting, PA, has a fall school year 2021-2022 opening for a full-time High School Science Classroom Teacher for its Special Education Private School.
This position is responsible for providing direct instruction to students to help them learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their social, emotional, and academic development; coordinating work within the School, as well as with other divisions/departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the assigned function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
Education/Training: B.A. degree in related field required; active Certification in Special Education.

- Develops, implements, and monitors the annual Individual Education Plan (IEP) regarding academic, social, and behavioral progress for each student assigned to the class; adjusts individualized goals based on student progress.
- Provides direct instruction to students to meet the specified IEP annual goals and objectives for each student, as well as the general curriculum goals and standards.
- Develops and implements lesson plans and instructional materials in accordance with assigned curriculum and pacing requirements; submits lesson plans in the approved format in a timely manner as required by Building Principal.
- Assists students by using Martin Luther School behavioral strategies and positive reinforcement for the purpose of teaching appropriate social behaviors in accordance with the students’ social and behavioral learning goals and in accordance with approved procedures and/or individual behavior plans.
- Gathers, stores, and monitors benchmarking data (qualitative and quantitative) to determine interventions and adjustments needed to maximize student progress in achieving instructional and behavioral goals (i.e. Pre/Post Test, Progress Monitoring Probes).
- Works to establish an open line of communication with student caregivers on a biweekly basis concerning both broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Attends and actively participates in IEP meetings, as well as staff, team, cluster, and other meetings, and private conferences with supervisor; participates in in-service activities and other staff development activities to enhance professional growth.
Education/Training: B.A. degree in related field required; active Certification in Special Education.
