Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things near and far away, stooping, kneeling, fine finger and hand manipulation using a computer, chalkboard, dry erase board, Smartboard, or projector.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement Vision’s curriculum and utilize classroom routines and procedures with consistency
- Develop rigorous lesson plans, homework assignments, and assessments
- Work closely with school leaders to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction
- Collaborate in grade-level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards
- Form and maintain relationships with students’ families, including phone calls, conferences, and visits.
- Participate in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement
- Tutor students on an individual basis and sponsor an afterschool club.
- Ability to adjust instructional strategies to reach year-end goals
- Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve
- A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement
- A belief that all students should be held to high standards
- A positive attitude and a drive for personal excellence
- Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students and maintain an orderly classroom environment
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Must have or be working towards teacher certification
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area
- Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting
- Documented experience using data-driven instruction to achieve significant student gains
- Documented experience, knowledge, skills using technology to improve instruction
- Documented Experience and knowledge with Core Knowledge Sequence is preferred

Compensation Package
- Starting base salary ($56,000) is competitive and commensurate with experience
- A School Sponsored Health Care Benefits Plan (100% of the Premium Paid by School for the entire family)
- 403 (b) Plan for retirement with 5% School matching.
- $2000 additional stipend for hard to fill positions (Math, Science, SPED, Tech)
- A performance-based retention pay program (up to $4500) to award teachers' efforts.
- Pay increase for continued education ($2000 additional pay for a Master's Degree in a related field).
- Additional stipend for those who are willing to sponsor after-school clubs and enrichment programs.
- Additional stipend for those who are willing to work in Summer School, ESY, and Saturday School Programs
